Wood That Doesn’t Cost The World
We understand that our business needs to be a conscious one. The timber we sell is from regulated forests and reputable, sustainable sources which are managed and farmed in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council ®, FSC®, and Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). This means that whenever you buy timber from Linnell’s, you can be sure it has come from a professionally managed plantation that operates within certified environmental standards. (Linnell Bros Ltd FSC license code: FSC-C022296 & PEFC licence code: PEFC/16-37-722).
Plantations That Put The Planet First
Through long-established relationships with sawmills across the UK, we ensure that our timber meets the most stringent of quality requirements. Timber is recyclable, waste efficient, biodegradable and non-toxic, it also has the potential to be infinite in supply with the timber industry planting more trees than ever. It is truly sustainable when grown and harvested in accordance with regulations. Most of our suppliers are now able to supply certification so please ask us for further information if required.
The Environment And Us
Here on-site, we hold large stocks to avoid surplus going to waste. We run our own fleet of delivery vehicles and ensure that these are managed economically with the environment in mind. We avoid using non-recyclable packaging where possible. All of our sheds and the mill have high quality translucent roofing panels to further reduce energy consumption.
Our timber is pressure treated using eco-friendly Tanalith preservatives containing no copper chromic arsenic or other toxic substances. The plant is environmentally friendly, recycling the chemicals and storing 300,000 litres of water, collected off the building from rainfall. With the average rainfall being 24”/year there is capacity to collect 100,000 litres each month.
The Future
We are passionate about our planet and we strive to achieve ambitious targets in this field. As a family business, we are proud to do our bit for the environment and as the fifth generation comes through, we continue to build a long term, sustainable business.
