The Appearance of Tanalith® E Treated Timber

Tanalith® E treated timber has an initial pale green colour. Upon external exposure, the colour will slowly weather to a warm, honey brown and, in the longer-term, to a natural silver-grey. We understand that for some projects, an initial brown colour is preferrable. To help, we can add Tanatone®, a brown colour additive, to the high pressure process which eliminates the need for brush applied colour at the point of installation. Over time the brown colour of Tanatone® will gradually fade. If required the colour can be refreshed with a brush-on colour product.

BPR Authorisation

Tanalith® E is a water-based preservative with BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation) authorisation, passing all necessary environmental, human and animal health risk assessments. Formulations of Tanalith® E hold national approvals across Europe, including the WPA Benchmark Approved Formulation in the UK.

Genuine Tanalised® Timber

Timber treated with Tanalith® E is trademarked as Tanalised® Timber. Over the years, due to the success of Tanalith® E, the word ‘Tanalised’ has been used to refer to treated timber. Other treated timbers may not offer the same long-term performance credentials as Tanalised® timber. So if you are planning a project, make sure that the timber you are specifying has genuinely been treated with Tanalith® E wood preservative.
